Hot Fun in the Summer Time

Summer couldn't be more fun!

Mom & I took swimming lessons to get ready for all the action.

I practiced my kicking (it was nothing...)

...And my back-float...


...And I completely mastered being cute in AND out of the water...

Finally I was ready for my very own pool:

(Totally awesome, right???)

I've had play-dates with my buddies..

(Geez, mom, you're embarrassing me with all those pictures!)

But best of all...

I've been able to watch the Rockies win with my daddy!

June 13

Mom kept telling me I had a big day coming up...

"Yippeeeee," I said. June 13 is the best day EVER.

Mom asked me if I wanted a big truck for my birthday so I could be like dad...

Get outta, town, I told mom.

Besides, I'm perfectly content with just a couple of rocks.

The "big day" came and I couldn't figure out why mom & dad were so darn happy...

That's when I found out it was the day of my big Hungry Caterpillar Birthday Party!

Happy Birthday to me...

...means cupcakes...

and lots of friends to play with !

Mom introduced me to cake that day...

I didn't know what to make of it until dad showed me that it's cool to eat sugar.

...I thought it was way cooler to throw it on the floor.


There were all these bags and paper for me to tear up that day.

It was like I was a king of my own paper universe or something...

And then I DID get a truck like dad's!

Is this how you do it, dad?

The next morning was my real birthday and I got to practice eating and rolling on my new sleeping bag.

Mom & dad took me to the zoo that day!

I saw peacocks and SNAKES (I loved them)...


...And zebras...

And look! I saw a polar bear looking at me!


That night mom & dad took me out for pizza and a big cookie. When it was time to blow out my candle, I looked at that delicious dessert very somberly as I made my wish:

"I wish every day of the year could be June 13..."
