I can't believe we're half way through fall. So much change has happened in our lives over the past 3 months...
We spent the last weekend of summer in Keystone at the Beer and Bluegrass festival with the kiddos.
Emma Rose, our resident dare-devil, enjoyed jumping up to the sky on the bungee-trampoline, as well as climbing a rock wall until she could conquer the top!
We met up with cousin Holden while there. The kids were adorable with their chosen face painting...
The summer - and much of the fall, was spent living with Nana and Papa. It's been a unique experience raising the kids where I grew up!
Porter spent a special day with Papa at the lake and caught a fish!
The weekend before the kids went back to school, we headed up to Chautauqua to hike the flatirons. The kids LOVE that this beautiful place is so close to our new home. We've spent some fun times hiking outside of and exploring the crazy town of Boulder.
Emma Rose enjoyed the street performance dog on Pearl Street:
It was a sad day for me when Emma Rose started her first day of kindergarten (all-day!!!) and Porter started his first day of 2nd grade.
(Isn't Nana's garden exquisite???) |
It has been a challenge, commuting from Arvada to Highlands Ranch, where I work and where I've kept the kids in school at Ben Franklin Academy. Still, the kids love their school and I love the time that we get to catch up on our days in the car together.
Soon after school started, the kids started playing soccer in a new league on the very fields I where grew up playing. Porter has excelled on team "Dominators" and EmmaRose has been the leading scorer on team "Pink Dragons."
Corey, enjoying the games... |
Post-game celebration after Porter scored 2, and Emma Rose scored 8 goals! |
Here's a cute picture from Emma Rose at her spirit week's "Whacky" theme day...
Corey and I were able to enjoy an early, sunny Bronco's game against the Colts.
We were proud of Porter when he was recognized at school for demonstrating the virtue of "kindness."
And we finally did close on our new house. The night after we closed, though, we were moving some things out of my parents' garage when Emma Rose hopped on Corey's longboard, hit a curb, and flipped...onto her head and face...
Fortunately, she was up and dancing within a week:
Anyway, we're finally living in our new home. Our lives might be in chaos, but we love each other and we're moving forward.
