Where did Summer go???

I can't believe September is already here.  We had a GREAT last few weeks celebrating summer in the beautiful Colorado Rockies!

The Leavitt-family got together for the last weekend of summer in Keystone.  The cousins had so much fun together!

(Porter & Ansley still tend to be 2 partners in crime...)

I had to go back to work the first week in August.  The kids ran to the car to blow me one more kiss before I drove to work.  If this doesn't wrench some tears, I don't know what does:

This summer has ended with some crazy weather - hot (but not miserably so) in the mornings and raining the the afternoon.  Thus, the kids take advantage of warm-weather evenings, lounging and playing outside when they can.

Here are a couple pictures of how we've spent some of those indoor rainy afternoons:

The kids started school toward the end of August.  They love school.  Funny story about Porter: After day 3 of Kindergarten, we asked him to name some of the boys he'd made friends with.  He told us that there are 8 boys in his class, but he doesn't know any of their names, but he did know all 5 of the girls names, and of those 5, he listed the three who were the prettiest.  Right now, Brooklyn has stolen his heart...

Emma Rose loves school.  She knew one of her teachers from Porter's prior year in preschool.  She didn't cry or fuss when I dropped her off on her first day.  She just said, "Bye mom! I'm just gonna play for a little bit," and then she walked around the classroom like she owned the place.

My favorite thing about this summer has been watching the kids really play together and grow to love each other.  Porter often says that now that Emma Rose is at his school, he's going to protect her, by "hitting any kid who hits her first."

The day after Emma Rose's first day of preschool, she started ballet (obviously thrilled...)

The cutest thing about this is that she wouldn't participate unless Papa did all the stretches with her.  Love it!

Corey and I ended our summer with a 14er, Mount Huron.

Goodbye, Summer.  The kids are ready for some skiing, so Fall, can you please start making some good snow?
