Home is where the heart is

May has been PACKED with celebrations and goodbyes. As our family is packing up our Highlands Ranch home, we feel blessed to have a little extra time to experience some special moments together as we end various chapters of our lives and move onto new adventures.

We started off the month celebrating Mother's Day. Corey tried to be the one the kids could celebrate, but he doesn't make a very pretty mommy.

Emma Rose had a sweet Mother's Day celebration at her preschool.

She shared all of her knowledge about me with her classmates:

She has been my partner in crime as I've finished up the last few weeks of work.  She's joined me numerous days at work to draw on the board, color pictures, and help me to pack up.  She even told one of my colleagues that her best days are the ones that she gets to spend with mommy.

Emma Rose said goodbye to her first (and worst, let's hope!) soccer season on the team, Andrea Tigers.  There was definitely more playing with Barbies and pretending to be a unicorn than kicking of soccer balls this season.

Porter also had to say goodbye to the best team ever, the Tiger Sharks.  Being the youngest kid on the team, and with the U.S. changing soccer age requirements, Porter will no longer play under his amazing coach and this talented group of boys.

Sadly, Porter sobbed when he found out that coach Rob won't be his coach anymore.  This was a tough goodbye.

Yet while moving from the soccer season, Emma Rose has been wrapping up her season of ballet and tap.  She has been preparing for her dance recital that is coming up next month.

She takes her dancing VERY seriously.

The kids had their Spirit Week at school and got "crazy" with Crazy Hair Day:

And Emma Rose had her first graduation.  She said goodbye to preschool and is ready to take on kindergarten!

Her teachers were both so sweet.  They absolutely wept saying goodbye to all the little kiddos.

To celebrate her major accomplishment, Emma Rose insisted on going out for pedicures.

The following day, Porter said goodbye to his amazing 1st Grade teacher, Mrs. North.

He wrote this for his 2nd grade teacher.  It made me cry.

Porter is ready for 2nd grade.  Wow.  That happened so fast.

It makes me sad to think that his start-of-the-year picture won't be on these steps...

...And that Emma Rose won't spend her summer days coloring under this tree...

But as the saying goes, "Home Is Where the Heart Is...

' Guess I'll be taking these two stinkers with us:

Happy Summer. Looking forward to a new chapter filled with sunshine and adventure.
