So much has happened over the past month - it has been a physical and emotional whirlwind. Many highs, a lot of travel, and many bittersweet changes, too!
Easter came near the end of April, and traditions of dyeing eggs and celebrating with family continued.
Thanks to a Valor student, we had an amazing evening behind the Rockies dugout, and both kids walked away with a baseball!
I got to take my DECA students to Orlando to compete at the national DECA competition.
These kids - all of my students - have made me so proud.
Just a few days after returning from Orlando, the whole family (Sowa grandparents, too!) headed to Marco Island to participate in our first ever Christian Brothers Automotive Conference.
Someone was fairly fond of the white sand beach... |
Emma Rose and I went parasailing. It was "very relaxing," as Emma Rose likes to recount. |
As always, Grandma makes pool-time so much fun! |
Grandma and Grandpa took Emma Rose and Porter on a fun boat-ride and alligator expedition while Corey and I were in sessions.
What a fun trip. I'm so proud of Corey!
We returned for the last few days of the kids' school. I am so proud of both of their hard work and hard play over the past year. I have two amazing kids. Porter received the Sir Lancelot Award and Emma Rose received a special award for her writing capabilities, and one of the school "Pride" awards for her constant dedication to serving and helping others.
Porter will be a 5th-grader next year, and Emma Rose will be in 3rd grade. WHOA!
I returned to Valor for my last "hoorah" to celebrate my beloved students.
Saying goodbye to a 15-year stretch in teaching, I am transitioning to be at home more with my kids and to support Corey and Christian Brothers. Many, many tears have been shed, but I am sure that I am doing what is best for my family.
I had a great run at my last school, Valor Christian High School, working with some of the most outstanding, amazing, selfless individuals, who have poured their hearts and souls into their students and into me.
I love love love these women, and have been mistaken for almost all of them on many occasions - lucky me! |
After Valor's 2019 graduation, Corey and the kids and I celebrated "change" for the evening in Boulder. What a beautiful area we live in.
Over the memorial day weekend, we watched the kids compete in a culminating soccer tournament, and Porter's last time playing for "Academy Select." What amazing growth we've seen as he's played his heart out this past year. His strength and skill have been fun to watch, and he truly loves the game.
To say goodbye to the season, the Academy teams went to a Rapids game, and got to "high-five" all the players, and even meet the youngest player to ever play for the Rapids, the talented, 17-year-old Cole Bassett.
Two days later, Porter would find out his placement on his first-time, competitive soccer team. We are so proud of him.
Tomorrow, Emma Rose will find out her placement on the "Academy Select" program of our local soccer club.
Life changes quickly. Kids grow faster than we expect, and I am determined to make the next years full of gratitude and love in the Sowa household. And now...
SUMMER!!!!
Enjoy, it... this life. As it says in Ephesians, " How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog - it's here a little while, then it's gone."
We are choosing to live it fully, and hold those most importantly to us closely.
Sweet sweet album. Love you and your family. So happy for Corey’s success. Hard work pays off. I support you in your decision. You devoted years to Valor and changed lives. Time to focus on Corey and enable two amazing kiddos to reach their full potential. Proud of you, Love, Judy
